ECO-LANDS - BORDERLAND FESTIVAL'S 2019 SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMS

ECO-LANDS AT BORDERLAND FESTIVAL 2019

This year Borderland Festival will be gathering several sustainability champions and advocates to join us in the ECO-LANDS. The Eco-Lands will be an immersive experience where festival goers can work with hands on activations and art projects regarding plastic pollution as well as visit all the sustainability tables and learn more about all their amazing efforts and projects.

WNY Sustainability Business Roundtable

ACES

Citizens Climate Lobby

Reverb

Plastic Pollution Coalition

Blue Rock Solar

Borderland Festival wil be hosting a sustainability panel to discuss all the sustainability efforts on Sunday, September 22nd on the Homespun Stage. Jennifer Brazill (co-founder) will be hosting the panel with Waste Free Earth, Reverb and Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper

Borderland will have FREE Water Stations around the festival site for fans to re-fill and hydrate all weekend sponsored by BCBS of WNY.

This year Borderland has partnered with REVERB (https://reverb.org) to create custom festival Nalgene water bottles to sell for fans to re-use and re-fill throughout the weekend at the free water stations. Water Bottles will cost $15 and all the proceeds of these water bottles will go to Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper and to support Reverbs efforts.

The Nalgene factory where the water bottles will be produced is based in Rochester, NY contributing to festivals messaging of supporting local business as well as having a lighter carbon footprint due to the fact there is no shipping involved.

All food and bar vendors will be compliant with the Borderland Sustainability team and use only compostable products.

No plastic water bottles will be for sale anywhere on site.

Waste Free Earth will be leading the Green Team sponsored by Blue Rock Solar and will be supporting the efforts with recycling, composting, waste diversion, micro trashing and more!

Commemorative 2019 stainless Steel mugs will be for sale and fans will receive $1 off each beer when using the mug all weekend. We encourage fans to bring their mug both days!

We will have a designated area for fans to bike to the festival and we highly encourage biking, carpooling and ride shares!

Our motto is LEAVE NO TRACE. Tread lightly. Be mindful. Be aware. Be kind to each other and the planet.
